Did you ever question why you do things? "Why in the world did I ever say that?" or "What's wrong wtih me that I feel this way?" Have I got a book for you!
I love reading psychology and self-help books. It's just in my "blood" to understand human nature better so I can understand myself and others better and be better at knowing where the other person is coming from in order to help them through or to know what to say in a rough time.
This book sells for a lot more (the price is on the back) so the price you see here is really a good deal. I got this book several weeks ago and have started reading and it fascinates me enough to keep me reading. Human nature is a very deep, sometimes misinterpreted subject.

Over The Hill
A few weeks ago I bought Billy Blanks Amped--the whole kit and kaboodle. I was so excited because I had done a lot a Tae Bo when VHS was still popular and I think I had most of his workouts. That was then. Amped is now. What a disappointment. Fortunately, I found it in a local store on sale at a ridiculously low price so I don't feel I wasted too much money. He does have some good moves and it keeps my workouts motivating when I mix and match with others such as Turbo Jam, Hip Hop Abs or Kettle bells.
I just wasn't that impressed with how he delivered his workouts this time around. The bar was nice but he moves too fast for me sometimes and I don't like feeling like I'm falling behind. Well, I'm over 60, what can I say?
This is the one I bought.

Fitness Counts
I'm a fitness freak! I believe everyone should do something physical at least 15 minutes a day for the sake of their own health. Lots of illness could be avoided or lessened simply by getting up off the couch and walking. I guess I'm an advocate of exercise because my own body tells me if I don't move I'm going to stiffen and get sore. Exercise actually keeps me from hurting more than I would from degenerative disc disease and arthritis. I can always tell when I have gotten lazy! But I love a good DVD to exercise with. I don't want yoga because I can't bend into a pretzel at my age. I don't want to just walk in place. That gets boring. No, give me something with challenge in it and I'll rise up and do it.
For example, Hip Hop Abs for when I feel like dancing. These exercises focus on the abdominal area. You don't do one sit-up but you sure do work those muscles! I honestly believe these are more effective than sit-ups. Because I've had major back surgery I can't do a regular sit-up so these are ideal for people with bad backs.
Try one or get the whole set. Never boring, always challenging, always fun.

April 15th came and went and so did our tax dollars! Many people wait until the last minute to file their taxes because they may owe taxes and just don't want to let go of that hard earned money. Some people file early to get it out of the way or because they are expecting a refund and want their money back as soon as possible. Others seek out a qualified tax preparer to do them for a small fee. Some people do their own taxes since software has been made available to the public and taxes can now be electronically filed with the IRS directly.
One thing is certain: taxes are to be paid. It doesn't always seem fair, though, the rate they charge. But there is nothing new about this. The tax collectors back in Jesus' day collected more from the people than what was accurately owed. "And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed."
Jesus was asked if it was lawful for people to have to pay taxes. He took a coin, which had Caesar's image inscribed on it and told them, :Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's and to God the things that are God's. (Luke 20: 21-25)
The idea of collecting taxes goes back as far a the Egyptian Pharaohs taxing cooking oil! All through history taxes have been laid on the people of countries to fund wars and pay national debts. Progressive taxation originated in 1629. To pay for their part in the war with Napoleon, the British invented a tax that is known today as the income tax. The tax was repealed when opponents questioned the financing of the war. All records of the tax were to have been destroyed except copies were saved and so it is today that it continues. They should have burned every copy!

Any one can meditate. But do you know how to do it correctly? Psalm One tells us how to just that and the result of meditating correctly. If I had to choose, I'd want to do something the right way, and with the right material, wouldn't you?

What It Means to Be Born Again
These are just a few of the teachers that God sent my way when I first came to know His Son, Jesus. They taught me a lot about God I never knew, even though I was raised in church.

Angie Miller DVD Update
This is one of the best DVDs I own to date. It's tough, but it keeps you moving and sweating. Isn't that what weight loss is all about? I mean, it's the biggest part, besides watching what you eat, burning off calories is what makes weight loss happen. If you limit what you eat and burn more calories, you can't help but lose weight.
Seed, Time and Harvest
Genesis 8: 22 "As long as the earth endures, seed time and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease."
The saying "what goes around comes around" is a brief interpretation of this law of God. Truly you do reap what you sow. If you sow sparingly, you get very little in return. (2Cor. 9:6-9) If you sow in abundance, your harvest is in proportion to what measure you sow. "Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit will reap eternal life" (Gal. 6: 6-9).
What you reap is called fruit--good or bad. The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, self-contol. (Gal. 5:22) The fruit of the sinful nature ends in death, both physically and spiritually.
Fruit has to be grown; it's a process. What kind of return do you want? If it is to know God, to be like Him, then sow the word of God in your life. You'll reap the fruit of the Spirit. It's the law! "The amount of thought or study you give to the truth you hear will be the measure of virtue and that comes back to you; and more will be given to you who hear.:" (Mark 4: 24 AMP)
Jesus said that every plant that His Father didn't plant would be pulled out by the roots. God is the Master Farmer! And He gets rid of weeds! Jesus also said we would know who was His by their fruit.
Many times we want to see quick results. We've become a fast-lane, fast-food society. We want it now and don't want to wait. One of the fruits of life is patience. This, too, takes time to grow. You see, the kingdom of God is like a man (there's another growth process) who sows or plants seed. If a farmer doesn't plant seed, he won't get a harvest. If he sows seeds of corn, he'll reap corn. It's a law--what you sow is what you get in return. Sow seed for what you want or need a harvest for. God doesn't sow our seed for us. He gives us seed. It's our responsibility to plant it.
